May 5th : Children's Day ( A day to honor children and to wish for their happiness.)
July 7th : Marine Day ( a day for feeling gratitude for the sea and its many gifts.)
September 15th : Respect-for-the-Aged Day ( A day for revering the elderly and wishing them a long and happy life.)
September 23rd or 24th : Autumnal Equnox Day ( A day for remembering and revering one's ancestors.)
The second monday in Octorber : Sports day ( A day for promoting good health through exercise and sports.)
November 3rd : Culture day ( The day on which the ideals of postwar Japan-love of peace and freedom-are fostered through cultural activities.)
November 23rd : Labor Thanksgiving Day ( A day to express gratitude to all working people and for the fruits of their labor.
December 23rd : The emperor's Birthday ( The birthday of the present emperor, who ascended the throne in 1989.)
